Today I get to show you my friend Rosalie’s new and improved cottage eclectic living room! If you’ll remember, in this post earlier this month I showed you how it was looking, what needed to happen in the space, and then showed a few mood boards to try and figure out which gorgeous rug from PlushRugs would work best. Here is where we started:
She has some great pieces, and even greater thrifting scores, but just needed to bring it all together and make it feel more cozy and cohesive, all with a minimal budget and a short timeframe. The centerpiece of the makeover would be a new bigger rug from PlushRugs but with their ginormous inventory, the best I could do was narrow it down to six choices. We put together a few mood boards so that we could see how each rug looked with the different elements in the room, then asked you all to weigh in on your favorite. A huge thanks to all of you that helped us pick by casting your vote!! Rug #6 was the strong leader, and was one of my faves, but Rosalie just wasn’t feeling the mustard-colored accents in it so we went for the next favorite, Rug #1 which is the Reflections “Vintage” by KAS.
It says gray on the website and looks pretty gray in the picture, but when we got it in it was much more beige/tan. Not a huge deal, and I’m actually pretty relieved it wasn’t as gray, but just take note if you’re interested in it!
SO, after the new rug, a new coffee table, and a couple gallery walls, here’s her new space!! (it’s weird to say new when so many of the pieces are thrifted)
Rosalie’s new Cottage Eclectic Living Room!!
Her pretty framed Audubon prints now hang over the TV and are the perfect size for that open space. We would have loved to chalk paint and distress the media cabinet but just ran out of time. Hopefully someday soon!
I absolutely LOVE the blue velvet chair she scored at HomeGoods a few months ago, it’s such a beautiful pop of color among all the neutrals, but still has a very vintage vibe to it that makes it look like one of her thrifting scores. We put a simple little sheepskin over the red ottoman which also brings another fun texture to the room.
Aside from the rug, my absolute FAVORITE feature is the gallery wall she started above the couch. It is the perfect way to display some of the funky and kitschy pieces she’s found, plus she’ll have room to add to it down the line.
These photos don’t do this rug justice by any means. I really am SO glad it’s more beige than gray because the colors are beautiful. Plus it’s super soft too, one of her requirements. Her new coffee table fits the style of the room so much better and now she’s got a shelf to store various things on as well.
Such a pretty space, right?! She will continue to work on the space, adding in more of her favorite finds here and there, but we think this is a pretty remarkable makeover just by adding in pieces that fit her style more and by taking advantage of the open wall space over the couch and television, the two focal points of the room.
HUGE thank you to PlushRugs for providing the beautiful new rug that brings everything together! If you’re looking for vintage-inspired rugs, they had tons to choose from and amazing prices, so definitely check them out!!
Oh, and you’ll DEFINITELY want to be here on Monday!! I’ve got a huge announcement to share with y’all that I’m crazy excited about. Have a great weekend friends!
