Oh man guys, this year’s Austin City Limits music festival was aaaahhhmazing and we had such a good time seeing the bands we love, hanging with friends we love, all in the city we love. I hate leaving Austin! But now it’s time for recovery and getting back to normal today but I wanted to hop on and do my October First Week Favorites today. I’ll be writing up a post all about ACL for Friday so make sure to stop by then!

ACL has a section every year for local artisans and shops and there were some awesome booths this time! Among other goodies, I got this necklace from an Austin shop called Ornamental Things and love it. There were sooo many I liked but decided on this one since I’m a sucker for anything with leaves or feathers on it. My friend went back and got this one too which is even more beautiful in person.

Friends Museum
I know there are some fellow Friends fans out there who would flip out like I would at this pop-up Friends museum housed in a Central Perk look-a-like, celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the show. Can you imagine?!? And it’s filled with all kinds of little mementos from the show like Ross’ approved celebrity list, Monica and Chandler’s wedding invitation, and Joey’s Soap Opera Digest article. If any of you New Yorkers go, you MUST tell me about it! It closes October 18th.
I am a Texas girl through-and-through but my style is the furthest from western it can be, however, these cowhide pillows meld the oh-so western material into super cool modern shapes that would fit right in around here. I’ve seen alot of rugs in this pieced-cowhide design and love them too. I think Lily would sit and smell them all day long, or roll on it.
Since we’re on fur, I’m dying to get a cushy, super soft, faux fur throw this season and I love that this one is lighter and at a much lower price point than the PB ones I’ve been eyeing. Although, I did get the PB faux sheepskin last year for Christmas and it is crazy comfy and is worth every penny. We need another throw in the living room so we don’t fight over that one, so I may see if it’s in our local store and check it out.

Cheap Barn Light
My friend Rosalie is doing sort of a Phase 1 update to her cute cottage kitchen and we’ve been on the lookout for a small wall-mounted sconce for over her sink. After seeing that most are over $100, I saw that a few other bloggers have used these $30 ones from Lowe’s so I think that’s what she may go with. At that price, you could throw a pair of these in so many places! Gah, I NEED a bigger house so I can have sconces :)
One of my coworkers brought me her This Old House magazine which featured a gallery wall full of vintage botanical prints, all found free online from here. I thought it was just plants at first but when I opened it, it’s full of all kinds of biota! Insects, birds, reptiles, shells, and more, pages and pages of them. I’m drawn to the fish, crustaceans and insects. You can download whatever size you want and have them printed and framed. Again, I need a bigger house so I can have more walls.
P.S. A winner has been chosen for last week’s HomeGoods giveaway, congratulations Sonja S. you lucky duck you!! Thanks to everyone for entering!!
