Happy 2017 everyone!! I hope all of you had a beautiful Christmas and a fun New Years with friends and family <3
We had a relaxing Christmas at the in-law’s (where little baby Seahorse thoroughly cleaned up) then both had off the week after for some quality home nesting time. While I have no idea where the last two weeks went, we were super productive and got a ton of our house, project, and nursery to-dos crossed off which felt amazing. On top of half a dozen house tasks needing to get done, I have about as many projects going on too and am really feeling the urge to wrap it all up before baby comes.
One of my favorite projects from the break is the Christmas gift we got ourselves, our new Ryobi garage door opener (like y’all saw in last month’s First Week Favorites). Our old opener was original to the house and finally crapped out after 20 years which is not so convenient during winter rainy cold fronts while in my third trimester, not to mention loading up an infant in it in a few months. So we decided to treat ourselves and finally go for it. The husband got a module set for Christmas so we’re all set up with a bluetooth speaker, extension cord, and a fan on top of its standard LED lights, battery backup, and cell phone app. I can’t tell you how badass this thing is, we LOVE working out there now and have spent the majority of the last week piddling in the garage using it during projects.
Speaking of projects, quite a bit got done in the nursery so I wanted to start this year off with an update on what’s going on in my favorite room yet! Back in November I shared with y’all my plans for the space, a calm, neutral space with weathered textures and soft finishes with a touch of coastal flair as usual.

Like I mentioned in that post, I scored a bunch of the decor we needed during Black Friday and Cyber Monday online sales so they all arrived over the last month. It’s a rare fun treat to pretty much receive a whole new room at your doorstep in a few week’s time :)
After moving the guest bed and rug out of this room and over to the office I finally had a blank slate to start filling, starting with this GORGEOUS rug from West Elm. It’s the Mini Pebble Wool Jute rug and it’s got the cushiest, softest feel but has enough pattern and texture to it with the jute to hide future inevitable oopsies. I also really love that it is an artisan fair trade item like many of their items are. I used my favorite rug pad again in here, the Nature’s Grip from RugPadUSA, since they’ve worked so great in the kitchen and are an eco-friendly option. I got a super soft faux sheepskin as well to layer over it as soon as the room is further along.
This beauty finally arrived right before Christmas too, and man, VERY merry Christmas to myself with this one!! This rocker was the first thing I decided on for the space and custom ordered it back in October since it takes about eight weeks to receive it. When picking one out, I knew I wanted a rocker instead of a glider, I wanted a super soft but still durable fabric, and I wanted a wingback so I’d have somewhere to rest my head while sitting in it. Everyone told me if there’s one thing to splurge on for the nursery, it’s the rocker since I’ll spend sooooo much time in it. So I did :) The Wingback Convertible Rocker from Pottery Barn Kids was absolutely perfect, PLUS the rockers can be replaced with standard chair legs down the line to allow it to be used in other spaces in a couple years if we want! I snagged it during an awesome furniture promotion they had and it’s every bit as beautiful as I had hoped. I’ve already spent some good time in it envisioning the completed room and a little one snuggled in with me :)
To save space in the room I’ll be switching out the standard closet door for a sliding barn door, but of course a perfectly chippy old door at that. I found the perfect one at a little shop up in Comfort last month and am just waiting on the hardware to get here to install it. As usual, it didn’t have the handle hardware anymore so I’ve been scouring Etsy for pieces that will work. I found a backplate that fit but now am on the hunt for a cool old metal knob to fit. Oh, and yes, I tested the paint and it’s lead-free and it’s been properly sealed so it doesn’t chip off more too.
The tall bookcase arrived too and is such a pretty finish. It isn’t the highest quality by any means but it was the perfect size and configuration and is going to work great in the space. We’ve started to receive some registry items too so the rest of the room currently looks like this, eesh. My shower is this weekend so afterwards Operation Organize-all-the-baby-things will commence!
So, since I love lists and need to feel like I got a lot done over the break…let’s take a look at what all still needs to be done in here:

This room is already looking beautiful! And that rocker is perfection <3
Thank you Leigh Anne! I am so anxious to get it all put together :)
Would you be able to tell me the color of the walls???? It’s so perfect and I’m doing a twin neutral nursery so I’d love to use it.
Hi Brittany! The color of the non-shiplap walls is Sherwin-Williams’ “Alpaca” :)
Loving how this is coming together! So beautiful!!! That chair! ??
Thanks Laura!! That chair is now on the grab-after-family-members hurricane evacuation list ;)
Great job on Nursery, love the neutrals, so calming!
Thanks so much Juanita!! It definitely already has a calming vibe (thank goodness)
I love the chair, I’ve been looking to get one for myself! Would you mind sharing what fabric you chose and how it has held up after a bit of use? Are you still in love??
Thanks! I went with the Performance Everyday Velvet fabric in “Silver Gray”. Knock on wood, I haven’t tested its stain resistance yet but as far as wear, it gets used many times a day and still looks brand new. I always have a burp cloth with me and keep that throw blanket over it just in case :) It is so crazy soft and has been really comfy for long rocking sessions and little naps with him…can’t recommend the wingback enough for that! Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!
Hello! I love your nursery. Could you share where you found the cream colored love pillow from and how long ago it was purchased?
Thanks!
Thanks Renee! I found it at HomeGoods late last fall so unfortunately I can’t source it for you, but Etsy may give you some good similar options, here :)
Hi! Love the nursery! Could you share where you got the blanket and the clock that’s on the side table?
Thank you Alison! The blanket is from Pier 1 and the clock is from World Market. You can find links to them and all the other items in the full reveal post here:
Love the flooring! Could I have info on flooring?
Thank you Brittany! It is a laminate by Armstrong that we had installed a few years ago. It has held up wonderfully and we’ve had no problems with it at all! Here is my affiliate link to it for more information :)
Can you share where the love throw pillow came from?
Hi Jenn! It was from HomeGoods so unfortunately I can’t link it (I actually hate getting things there because I know I can’t link them for you guys :/ ) but here are some similar ones: Etsy and Wayfair. Hope this helps :)
